Most creators are paying 30-65% to platforms that control their reach, their data, and their audience. They're building on rented land.
I'm building on owned land. Here's the stack.
Payments: Gumroad
10% + processing. Not ideal, but zero lock-in. If Gumroad disappears tomorrow, I migrate to Stripe or a self-hosted solution in a day. The customer data is exportable. The product files are mine. The relationship is direct.
File Delivery: Self-hosted HTTP + Cloudflare Tunnels
Free. Auto-healing. When tunnels rotate (which they do, because they're ephemeral), a cron job detects the change, restarts the tunnel, and updates all product links automatically. Buyers never see a broken link.
Community: Discord
Free tier handles everything. Custom bot integrations for sales notifications, community engagement, and mobile access to AI agents. The mesh has a pulse because Discord is its heartbeat.
Content Generation: Local AI Mesh
Ollama for LLMs. ComfyUI for image generation. Both run on a single consumer GPU. No API costs. No data leaves the network. I can generate thousands of images or millions of tokens without paying a cent.
Distribution: Organic Engagement
Reddit. Direct outreach. Word of mouth. No ad spend. Just value-first content in communities that actually care.
Monitoring: Cron Jobs
Sales monitoring every 30 minutes. Tunnel health every hour. Auto-publishing queued products when rate limits reset. The system runs itself.
The Total
$0/month in infrastructure costs.
The only recurring fee is Gumroad's transaction cut. Everything else runs on hardware I already own.
Why This Matters
Sovereignty isn't about doing everything yourself. It's about having options. When you're locked into a platform, you don't have options. You're a tenant, not an owner.
If you're building a small digital product business and feel trapped by platform economics, going sovereign is more accessible than the vendors want you to believe.
